SN65HVD3080 - SN65HVD3088 are +5.0V-powered RS-485/RS-422 transceivers with ±16kV ESD protection. They feature a failsafe circuit that drives the receiver output to a logic high when the receiver inputs are open or shorted, or when all transmitters connected to a terminated bus are disabled. The entire family supports hot-plug capability, eliminating fault transients on the bus during power-up or hot insertion.
The SN65HVD3080 - SN65HVD3088 drivers provide an enhanced output voltage swing (exceeding 2.1V into a 54Ω load), ensuring greater noise margin. The SN65HVD3080 - SN65HVD3085E feature a slew-rate-limited driver that reduces EMI and reflections caused by improperly terminated cables, enabling error-free data transmission at up to 500kbps.
The SN65HVD3086E/SN65HVD3087E/SN65HVD3088 drivers have no slew rate limitation, supporting data rates up to 16Mbps.
The SN65HVD3082E/SN65HVD3085E/SN65HVD3088 are designed for half-duplex communication; the SN65HVD3080/SN65HVD3081E/SN65HVD3083E/SN65HVD3084E/SN65HVD3086E/SN65HVD3087E are designed for full-duplex communication.
All devices feature a 1/8-unit-load receiver input impedance, allowing up to 256 transceivers to be connected on the bus.
