Introduction
The ATA656x high-speed CAN transceivers provide an interface between a CAN protocol controller and the physical two-wire CAN bus. The transceivers are designed for high-speed CAN applications in the automotive industry, providing differential transmit and receive capability for CAN protocol controllers.
The ATA656x features improved EMC and ESD performance, along with the following characteristics:
- Ideal passive behavior on the CAN bus when supply voltage is off
- Ultra-low current standby mode with bus wake-up capability
- Models with VIO pin allow direct connection to microcontrollers operating at 3.3V to 5V supply voltage
The ATA656x implements the CAN physical layer as defined in ISO 11898-2:2016 and SAE J2284-1 to SAE J2284-5. This implementation enables reliable communication at data rates up to 5Mbps during the CAN FD fast phase.
These CAN transceivers comply with the ISO 11898-2 (2016) high-speed CAN physical layer standard. They are designed for CAN FD data rates exceeding 1 Mbps and for enhanced timing margin/higher data rates in long-distance and high-load networks. These devices offer numerous protection features to enhance the robustness of both the device and the CAN network.
