Introduction
The LM2660 CMOS charge pump voltage converter is a versatile unregulated switched-capacitor inverter or voltage doubler. Operating over a wide supply voltage range of 1.5V to 5.5V, it delivers 100mA of output current using just two low-cost capacitors, without the cost, size, and EMI concerns associated with inductor-based converters. With an operating current of only 120μA and efficiency exceeding 90% under most load conditions, the LM2660 offers ideal performance for battery-powered systems. Multiple LM2660 devices can be connected directly in parallel to reduce output impedance, enabling higher current delivery at a given voltage.
The FC (Frequency Control) pin selects between nominal oscillator frequencies of 10kHz or 80kHz. The oscillator frequency can be reduced by adding an external capacitor to the OSC pin. The OSC pin can also be driven by an external clock of up to 150kHz to control the LM2660. These methods allow control over the output ripple frequency and its harmonics.
In addition, the LM2660 can be configured to precisely halve a positive input voltage. In this mode, input voltages of up to 11V can be used.
