Introduction
The LM78Mxx series three-terminal positive voltage regulators are available in DPAK packages with multiple fixed output voltages, suitable for a wide range of applications. These regulators enable on-board local regulation, eliminating distribution problems associated with single-point regulation. Each device features internal current limiting, thermal shutdown, and safe operating area protection, making them essentially immune to damage. With adequate heatsinking, they can deliver output currents in excess of 0.5 A. Although primarily designed as fixed-voltage regulators, these devices can also be used with external components to obtain adjustable voltages and currents.
