Introduction
The ICL8038 waveform generator is a monolithic integrated circuit capable of producing high-accuracy sine, square, triangular, sawtooth, and pulse waveforms with a minimum number of external components. The frequency (or repetition rate) can be selected over a range of 0.001Hz to 300kHz and beyond using external resistors or capacitors, and frequency modulation and sweep can be achieved via an external voltage. The ICL8038 is fabricated using advanced monolithic technology with Schottky barrier diodes and thin-film resistors, and its outputs remain stable over a wide temperature range and supply voltage variations. These devices can interface with phase-locked loop circuits to reduce temperature drift to less than 250ppm/°C.
