Introduction
MAX3070E – MAX3078E are +3.3V-powered RS-485/RS-422 transceivers with ±16kV ESD protection. A failsafe circuit ensures the receiver output remains logic-high when the receiver inputs are open or shorted, or when all drivers connected to a terminated bus are disabled. The entire family features hot-plug capability, eliminating glitch transients on the bus during power-up or hot insertion. MAX3070E – MAX3075E feature slew-rate-limited drivers that reduce EMI and reflections caused by improperly terminated cables, enabling error-free data transmission at up to 500kbps. MAX3076E/MAX3077E/MAX3078E have no slew-rate limiting, supporting data rates up to 16Mbps. MAX3072E/MAX3075E/MAX3078E are designed for half-duplex communication; MAX3070E/MAX3071E/MAX3073E/MAX3074E/MAX3076E/MAX3077E are designed for full-duplex communication. All devices feature 1/8 unit load receiver input impedance, allowing up to 256 transceivers on the bus.
