Introduction
The LM78Mxx series three-terminal positive voltage regulators are available in the DPAK package with several fixed output voltages, suitable for a wide range of applications. These regulators can provide on-board local regulation, eliminating distribution problems associated with single-point regulation. Each type features internal current limiting, thermal shutdown, and safe-area protection, making them virtually indestructible. With adequate heatsinking, they can deliver output currents in excess of 0.5 A. Although designed primarily as fixed voltage regulators, these devices can also be used with external components to obtain adjustable voltages and currents.
