Introduction
The LM2940 is a cost-effective low-dropout linear regulator capable of delivering 1A output current across the entire operating temperature range, with a typical dropout voltage of 0.5V and a maximum dropout voltage not exceeding 1V. When the input-to-output voltage differential exceeds 3V, an internal quiescent current reduction module activates to lower the total circuit quiescent current, ensuring it remains within the specified limit. The device also features reverse battery protection and can withstand transients up to twice the battery voltage. In addition, it integrates output short-circuit current protection, over-temperature protection, and overvoltage protection.
