Introduction
The SNx5176 is a 10Mbps high-speed half-duplex transceiver for RS-485 communications, integrating one driver and one receiver. The device provides ±8kV HBM ESD protection and incorporates a failsafe circuit. This circuit ensures the receiver output remains logic-high when the receiver inputs are open or shorted, or when all transmitters on the bus are disabled. The driver features no slew-rate limiting, supporting data rates up to 10Mbps. The receiver has a 1-unit-load input impedance, allowing up to 32 transceivers on the bus. In addition, an integrated thermal shutdown circuit protects the device from damage under high-temperature conditions.
