Introduction
The TPS6302x devices provide a power supply solution for products powered by two or three alkaline, NiCd, or NiMH cells, a single-cell Li-Ion or Li-Polymer battery, a supercapacitor, or other power rails. Output current up to 3A is supported. When using batteries, discharge down to below 2V is possible. This buck-boost converter is based on a fixed-frequency, PWM controller with synchronous rectification for maximum efficiency. At low load currents, the converter enters a power-save mode to maintain high efficiency across a wide load current range. Disabling power-save mode forces the converter to operate at a fixed switching frequency. The maximum average switch current is 4A (typical). The output voltage can be programmed via an external resistor divider or fixed internally on-chip. The converter can be disabled to minimize battery drain. During shutdown, the load is disconnected from the battery.
The TPS6302x devices operate over an ambient temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. The device is available in a 3mm×4mm (DSJ) 14-pin VSON package.
