The TPS25927x series of electronic fuses are highly integrated circuit protection and power management solutions in a small package. The device uses very few external components and offers multiple protection modes. They can effectively prevent overloads, short circuits, excessive inrush currents, and reverse currents. The current limit level can be set via a single external resistor. For applications with specific requirements for voltage ramps, the dV/dT pin can be set via a single capacitor to ensure an appropriate output slope. Many systems, such as SSDs, prohibit the stored capacitive energy from flowing back to the step-down or short-circuit input bus through the FET diode. The BFET pin is dedicated to such systems. An external NFET can form a "back-to-back (B2B)" connection with the TPS25927x output, and the gate driven by the BFET can prevent current from flowing back from the load to the power supply.
