The TPS25924x series of electronic fuses are highly integrated circuit protection and power management solutions in a small package. The device uses very few external components and offers multiple protection modes. They can effectively prevent overload, short circuit, voltage surge, excessive inrush current, and reverse current. The current limit level can be set via an external resistor. The internal clamping circuit can limit the overvoltage to a safe fixed maximum without the need for external components. Applications with special voltage ramp requirements can use a single capacitor to set the dV/dT to ensure an appropriate output ramp rate. Many systems, such as SSDs, prohibit the stored capacitive energy from flowing back to the step-down or short-circuit input bus through the FET diode. The BFET pin is dedicated to such systems. An external NFET can be connected “back-to-back (B2B)” with the TPS25924x output, and the gate driven by the BFET can prevent current from flowing back from the load to the power supply.
