Introduction
The WS2811 is a three-channel output IC designed for LED driver circuits. It integrates an intelligent digital port data latch, a signal reshaping amplification driver circuit, a precision internal oscillator, and a 12V programmable constant-current output driver. To reduce power supply ripple, the three output channels are designed with a delayed turn-on feature.
The IC uses single-wire NZR communication mode. After power-on reset, the DIN port receives data from the controller. The first IC captures the initial 24 bits of data and latches them internally; the remaining data, reshaped by the internal signal reshaping amplification circuit, is forwarded through the DO port to the next cascaded IC. With each transmission, the data is reduced by 24 bits. The IC employs automatic reshaping transmission technology, allowing unlimited cascading of chips — constrained only by signal transmission speed, not by signal degradation.
The IC's data latch generates signals with varying duty cycles on the OUTR, OUTG, and OUTB ports based on the received 24-bit data. When a reset signal is applied to the DIN port, all chips synchronously transmit the received data to each segment. After the reset signal ends, the IC resumes receiving new data. The control signals on the OUTR, OUTG, and OUTB ports remain unchanged until a new reset signal is received. The IC outputs the most recently received PWM data to the OUTR, OUTG, and OUTB ports upon receiving a low-voltage reset signal lasting longer than 280μs.
