ISO14xx devices are electrically isolated differential line transceivers suitable for TIA/EIA RS-485 and RS-422 applications. These noise-resistant transceivers are designed for harsh industrial environments. The bus pins of these devices can withstand high-level IEC electrostatic discharge (ESD) and IEC electrical fast transient (EFT) events without the need for additional components on the bus for system-level protection. These devices are available with basic and enhanced isolation options. These devices are used for long-distance communication. Isolation breaks the ground loop between communication nodes, resulting in a larger common-mode voltage range. Each device's symmetrical isolation barrier has been tested to provide 5000V RMS isolation for 1 minute between the bus transceiver and the logic-level interface in accordance with the UL 1577 standard. ISO14xx devices can operate with a supply voltage of 1.71V to 5.5V on side 1. This voltage range enables the devices to connect to low-voltage FPGAs and ASICs. There is a wide supply voltage range of 3V to 5.5V on side 2, so there is no need to provide a regulated power supply on the isolated side. These devices support a wide operating ambient temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
