Introduction
The CA-IS309x series are isolated half-duplex RS-485 transceivers with an integrated isolated DC-DC converter, eliminating the need for an external isolated power supply. The devices feature SiO₂ insulating barrier isolation between the logic-side input and output buffers, and operate from a single 5V or 3.3V supply, delivering a highly integrated signal and power isolation RS-485 solution. The insulating barrier breaks the ground loop between the logic side and bus side, helping to reduce noise caused by high ground potential differences between ports and ensuring reliable data transmission.
The CA-IS309x series supports multi-node data communication. The bus pins feature ±20kV HBM ESD protection, capable of withstanding high-level ESD events and protecting internal circuitry from damage. The receiver input impedance is 1/8 unit load, allowing up to 256 transceivers to be connected on the same bus. The CA-IS309x series also offers a variant (CA-IS309xVW) with independent DC-DC converter and RS-485 transceiver power supplies, facilitating signal interfacing between the logic side and low-voltage control circuits.
The CA-IS309x is available in a 16-pin wide-body SOIC package and supports an industrial extended temperature range of -40°C to 125°C.
