Introduction
The CA-IS308x series are current-isolated RS-485/RS-422 transceivers offering superior isolation performance and RS-485 performance to meet industrial application requirements. All devices in this series feature logic input and output buffers separated by a silicon oxide (SiO2) insulation layer, providing galvanic isolation with up to 5000VRMS (60s) isolation voltage and a typical common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) of ±150kV/μs. The isolation improves communication by breaking ground loops and reduces noise when large ground potential differences exist between ports. CA-IS308x series devices support multi-node communication on the bus with a maximum data rate of 20Mbps, allowing up to 256 transceivers (loads) to be connected on a common bus. Maintaining multipoint operation while increasing the maximum data rate enables more robust system designs for reliable communication. Within the CA-IS308x series, the CA-IS3080 and CA-IS3086 are full-duplex transceivers designed for simultaneous bidirectional data communication over multipoint bus transmission lines. The CA-IS3082 and CA-IS3088 provide half-duplex transceivers, where driver and receiver enable pins allow any node to be configured as either transmit or receive mode at any given time, reducing cabling requirements. CA-IS308x series devices are available in a wide-body SOIC16 package — the industry-standard isolated RS-485/RS-422 package — with an operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
