Introduction
The ESP8285 provides a highly integrated Wi-Fi SoC solution that meets user requirements with low power consumption, a compact design, and high stability. The chip features a complete and self-contained Wi-Fi networking capability, supporting both standalone operation and use as a slave device running alongside a host MCU. In standalone mode, it can boot directly from external flash. The built-in cache helps improve system performance and optimize the memory subsystem. Additionally, it can be used as a Wi-Fi adapter in any microcontroller-based design simply via an SPI/SDIO or UART interface. The ESP8285 integrates an antenna switch, RF balun, power amplifier, low-noise amplifier, filters, and power management module. Its compact design requires minimal external circuitry and minimizes PCB footprint. The chip also integrates an enhanced Tensilica L106 Diamond Series 32-bit core processor with on-chip SRAM, and supports external sensors and other peripherals via IOs. The SDK provides sample code for various applications. Currently, the ESP8285 family comprises two variants, catering to users with different temperature and memory requirements.
