Introduction
Ratiometric linear Hall-effect magnetic sensor with analog output powered by 3.3V and 5V supplies, providing VCC/2 quiescent offset voltage. Magnetic sensitivity options (at VCC = 5V): – A1/Z1: 100mV/mT, ±21mT range The DRV5055 is a linear Hall-effect sensor that responds proportionally to magnetic flux density. The device can be used for accurate position sensing in a wide variety of applications. The device operates from a 3.3V or 5V supply. In the absence of a magnetic field, the analog output drives to 1/2 VCC. The output varies linearly with applied magnetic flux density, and four sensitivity options provide maximum output voltage swing for the required sensing range. North and south magnetic poles produce unique voltages. The device senses magnetic flux perpendicular to the top of the package, with two package options offering different sensing orientations. The device uses a ratiometric architecture that eliminates errors due to VCC tolerance when an external ADC uses the same VCC as its reference voltage. In addition, the device features magnet temperature compensation to counteract magnet drift, enabling linear performance over a wide temperature range of –40°C to 125°C. A device option without magnet drift temperature compensation is also available.
The DRV5055 is a 3-pin linear Hall-effect sensor with fully integrated signal conditioning, temperature compensation circuitry, mechanical stress cancellation, and an amplifier. The device operates from 3.3V and 5V (±10%) supplies, measures magnetic flux density, and outputs a proportional analog voltage referenced to VCC.
