Introduction
The TPS23861 is an easy-to-use and flexible IEEE 802.3at PSE solution. After leaving the factory, this device can automatically manage four 802.3at ports without any external control. The TPS23861 automatically detects powered devices (PDs) with valid signatures, determines the power supply requirements based on classification, and applies power. It supports two-event classification for Type 2 PDs. The TPS23861 supports DC disconnect and external field-effect transistor (FET) architectures, enabling designers to balance the requirements of size, efficiency, and solution cost. The unique pin assignment allows for a two-layer PCB design through logical grouping and clear differentiation between the upper and lower levels of the I²C and power pins. This provides the best thermal performance, Kelvin accuracy, and low build cost among similar products. In addition to the automatic operation mode, the TPS23861 can also achieve a semi-automatic mode through I²C control, enabling precise monitoring and intelligent power management. Whether in semi-automatic mode or automatic mode, the 400ms TPON specification value can be guaranteed.
