TPS61022 provides a power solution for portable and IoT devices powered by various batteries and supercapacitors. Across the full temperature range, the TPS61022 offers a minimum valley switch current limit of 6.5A. Over a wide input voltage range of 0.5V to 5.5V, the TPS61022 supports supercapacitor backup power applications, which may result in deep discharge of the supercapacitor. When the input voltage is above 1.5V, the TPS61022 operates at a switching frequency of 1MHz. When the input voltage drops below 1.5V and down to 1V, the switching frequency gradually decreases to 0.6MHz. Under light-load conditions, the MODE pin configures the TPS61022 operating mode to either power-save mode or forced PWM mode. Under light-load conditions, the TPS61022 consumes only 26μA quiescent current at VOUT. During shutdown, the load is completely disconnected from the input power supply. The TPS61022 also features 5.7V output overvoltage protection, output short-circuit protection, and thermal shutdown protection. The TPS61022 is available in a 2mm × 2mm VQFN package, which minimizes the number of external components and enables a very compact solution size.
