Introduction
The TPS61099x is a synchronous boost converter with an ultra-low quiescent current of 1μA. The device is designed for products powered by alkaline batteries, NiMH rechargeable batteries, Li-Mn batteries, or Li-Ion rechargeable batteries, where high efficiency under light-load conditions is critical for extending battery life. The TPS61099x boost converter employs a hysteretic control topology to achieve maximum efficiency with the lowest quiescent current. The device draws only 1μA quiescent current under light-load conditions; at a load of 10μA, up to 75% efficiency can be achieved using the fixed output voltage version. The device delivers output currents up to 300mA during 3.3V-to-5V conversion, achieving up to 93% efficiency at a 200mA load. The TPS61099x also provides buck mode and pass-through mode for different applications. In buck mode, the output voltage is regulated to the target value even when the input voltage exceeds the output voltage. In pass-through mode, the output voltage varies with the input voltage. When VIN > VOUT + 0.3V, the TPS61099x exits buck mode and enters pass-through mode. The TPS61099x can disconnect the load from the input supply in the disabled state, enabling a true shutdown to reduce current consumption. The TPS61099x is available in adjustable and fixed output voltage versions. The device is offered in a 6-ball 1.23mm×0.88mm WCSP package.
