Introduction
FM4057 is a single-cell lithium battery linear charger IC combining high integration with high reliability, accepting input power from either an AC adapter or a USB port. When the power source is removed, FM4057 enters sleep mode. The FM4057 charging system integrates three control loops — constant current, constant voltage, and constant temperature — delivering superior charging performance.
FM4057 optimizes the charging process through a control algorithm encompassing pre-charge, fast-charge, and constant-voltage modes. Once fully charged, the device maintains constant-voltage mode to ensure the battery remains at full charge at all times. Charge current is programmable via a single external resistor, with a maximum configurable charge current of 1A. An internal thermal feedback circuit regulates die temperature to ensure the battery is charged at the optimal rate across all available ambient temperatures. In practice, when charging begins, the die temperature rises, causing the charge current to decrease proportionally with the temperature increase; once the internal temperature loop reaches steady state, the charge current stabilizes, achieving isothermal charging. The VIN pin supports a maximum input voltage of 32V. FM4057 also integrates comprehensive protection features: input overvoltage, input undervoltage, output overvoltage, output short-circuit, and over-temperature protection.
FM4057 is available in four package options: SOT23-6, SOT23-5, ESOP8, and DFN6.
