Introduction
The LC86L is an ultra-compact GNSS module integrating a patch antenna and a GNSS chipset engine. By supporting two or three concurrent GNSS constellations (depending on the internal chipset version) along with QZSS, the module delivers exceptional performance. It is pin-compatible with Quectel's GPS module L80.
The LC86L combines advanced EASY™ (Embedded Assist System) with LOCUS functionality to achieve maximum performance in full compliance with industry standards. EASY™ technology enables the LC86L to automatically calculate and predict orbits using ephemeris data stored in internal RAM (up to 3 days). This allows the LC86L to achieve fast positioning even under low signal levels and low power conditions. In addition, the built-in logging feature known as LOCUS allows the LC86L to record position data to internal flash memory at a default interval of 15 seconds, typically providing greater logging capacity at no additional cost.
The LC86L also supports automatic antenna switching. The module can switch between the integrated patch antenna and an external active antenna while maintaining tracking throughout the switching process.
Thanks to its compact design, high accuracy, and high sensitivity, the LC86L is an ideal solution for a wide range of M2M applications, including portable devices, automotive applications, personal tracking, smart security, and industrial PDAs. It is particularly well-suited for specialized applications such as GNSS mice and OBD.
