Introduction
The U-GAGE® T18U series sensors are opposed-mode ultrasonic emitter/receiver pairs. They incorporate an advanced built-in microprocessor to analyze received ultrasonic signals and control the LED indicator located on the back of the receiver. The receiver LED blinks at a rate proportional to the strength of the received sonic signal. This indicator greatly simplifies sensor alignment and alerts personnel to marginal sensing conditions caused by gradual misalignment or environmental factors. The receiver is precisely tuned to the ultrasonic emitter, giving the sensor a high degree of immunity to sonic and electrical environmental noise. The T18U receiver can be configured in two resolution modes: normal mode or high-resolution mode. The mode is selected by the polarity of the supply voltage. Normal resolution mode provides a 600mm (24 in) sensing range and maximizes sensing energy for use in harsh environments. High-resolution mode provides a sensing range of up to 300mm (12 in) and maximizes sensing response for high-speed counting applications. Opposed-mode ultrasonics are useful for highly reliable sensing of transparent materials, which has always been a challenge for photoelectric modes. The T18U series ultrasonic sensors are designed for harsh sensing environments. The housing is rugged NEMA 6P-rated PBT material. Electronic components are encapsulated in epoxy resin. The acoustic faces of both the emitter and receiver are epoxy-reinforced for exceptional durability and moisture resistance.
Features
