When used with an external loop filter and external reference frequency, the ADF4351 can implement fractional-N or integer-N PLL frequency synthesizers.

The ADF4351 features an integrated VCO with a fundamental output frequency range of 2200 MHz to 4400 MHz. In addition, using a 1/2/4/8/16/32/64 divider circuit, users can generate RF output frequencies as low as 35 MHz. For applications requiring isolation, the RF output stage can be muted. The mute function can be controlled either via a pin or through software. An auxiliary RF output is also available and can be powered down when not in use.

All on-chip registers are controlled via a simple 3-wire interface. The device operates from a 3.0 V to 3.6 V supply and can be powered down when not in use.
