Introduction
The TPS9260x-Q1 series of devices is a single-channel and dual-channel high-side current LED driver. With full protection and diagnostic functions, this series of devices is specifically designed for and well-suited to automotive headlights. At the core of each independent driver is a peak current mode boost controller. Each controller consists of two independent feedback loops: a current feedback loop with a high-side current sensing shunt and a voltage feedback loop with an external resistor divider network. This controller delivers a constant output voltage or a constant output current. The connected load determines whether the device regulates a constant output current (if the circuit reaches the current setpoint before the voltage setpoint) or a constant output voltage (if the circuit reaches the voltage setpoint first, e.g., under an open-load condition). Each controller supports all typical topologies such as boost, boost to battery voltage, SEPIC, or flyback. To protect the circuit, a high-side PMOS FET driver is used for PWM dimming of the LED string and cuts off the power in case of an external short to ground.

- Fixed-frequency current-mode controller with integrated slope compensation, dual regulation loops, constant current output and constant voltage output (per channel)
- High-side current sensing:
- 150mV or 300mV sense voltage (EEPROM option)
- ±6mV offset (achieving approximately 4% or 2% LED current accuracy)
- Output voltage sensing, internal voltage reference: 2.2V ± 5%
- Integrated low-side NMOS-FET driver: peak gate drive current typical 0.7A
- Frequency synchronization
- PWM dimming and analog dimming support
- Diagnostics:
- High-side current (LED current) available as analog output
- Open LED and short-to-GND detection
