Introduction
The TPS65310A-Q1 is a power management unit designed to meet the requirements of automotive systems controlled by a DSP, such as advanced driver assistance systems. By integrating commonly used functions, the TPS65310A-Q1 significantly reduces board space and system cost. The device uses a high-voltage buck controller for pre-regulation, combined with two buck converters and one boost converter for post-regulation. Further integration of an LDO consolidates the power supply concept, providing a flexible system design with five independent voltage rails. The device offers a low-power state (LPM0 with all power rails off) to reduce current consumption when the system remains continuously connected to the battery line. All outputs are protected against overload and overtemperature. An external PMOS protection feature enables the device to withstand transient voltages up to 80V. This external PMOS can also be used in safety-critical applications to protect the system when a fault (undervoltage, overvoltage, or overcurrent) occurs on any one of the power rails. Internal soft-start ensures controlled startup of all power supplies. The output voltage of each power supply is adjustable via an external resistor network configuration.
