Introduction
The AMC1305 is a high-precision delta-sigma (ΔΣ) modulator that isolates the output from the input circuit through a capacitive dual isolation barrier with high magnetic field immunity. Per DIN V VDE V 0884-10, UL1577, and CSA standards, the isolation barrier is certified to provide enhanced isolation up to 7000 V (specific combinations may represent complex voltage conditions). When used with an isolated power supply, the device prevents noise currents on common-mode high-voltage lines from entering the local system ground and interfering with or damaging low-voltage circuits. The AMC1305 is optimized for direct connection to shunt resistors or other low-voltage signal sources, offering excellent DC and AC performance. Shunt resistors are commonly used for current sensing in motor drives, green energy generation systems, or other industrial applications. By using an appropriate digital filter (i.e., integrated in the TMS320F2837x) to decimate the bitstream, the device achieves 16-bit resolution with 85 dB (13.8 ENOB) dynamic range at a 78 kSPS data rate. On the high side, the modulator is powered by a nominal 5 V (AVDD) supply, while the isolated digital interface is powered by a 3.3 V or 5 V supply (DVDD). The AMC1305 is available in a wide-body small-outline integrated circuit (SOIC)-16 (DW) package with an operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
