Introduction
The SX9338 is a 5-channel intelligent capacitive proximity sensor designed for Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) and other demanding proximity sensing applications. The device is primarily used to detect user presence at multiple distances to enhance SAR applications. This information is used in portable electronic devices to reduce and control RF transmission power upon detecting human presence, enabling manufacturers of electronic devices with electromagnetic radiation sources to meet stringent emission regulatory standards and SAR standards. The device operates directly from a 2.7 V to 3.6 V input supply voltage and outputs data via the I2C serial bus. The I2C serial communication bus port is compatible with 1.8 V host control, used for reporting human detection/proximity status and facilitating parameter configuration adjustments. When proximity is detected, the NIRQ output asserts, enabling users to determine relative proximity distance or simply obtain a detection indication. The SX9338 incorporates an on-chip automatic calibration controller that periodically performs sensitivity adjustments to maintain performance under significant variations in temperature, humidity, and noise environments, thereby simplifying product development and improving performance.
