Introduction
TP4054 is a perfect single-chip constant-current/constant-voltage linear power management IC for lithium-ion batteries. It is compact in size, making it convenient for portable applications. In addition, TP4054 is specifically designed for USB power supply specifications. Thanks to its internal MOSFET architecture, no external sense resistor or blocking diode is required. During high-power operation and elevated ambient temperature conditions, the thermal feedback function controls the charge current to reduce the chip temperature. The charge voltage is fixed at 4.2V, and the charge current is adjustable via an external resistor. After the target charge voltage is reached, TP4054 will automatically terminate the charging process when the charge current drops to 1/10 of the programmed value. TP4054 can also be set to a shutdown state, reducing the supply current to 25μA. TP4054 ensures the IC automatically enters a protection state when the battery is connected in reverse polarity, thereby preventing IC breakdown and battery self-discharge incidents. Additional features include: charge current monitoring, input undervoltage lockout, automatic recharge, and charge status indicators for full charge and charging-in-progress conditions.
