Microchip Technology's HCS515 is a hopping code decoder designed for secure remote keyless entry (RKE) systems. The HCS515 utilizes the patented KEELOQ hopping code system and a high-security learning mechanism, making it a ready-made solution for one-way remote control and access control systems when used in conjunction with HCS encoders. The HCS515 can be used as a standalone decoder or in combination with a microcontroller. The manufacturer code, encoder decryption key, and synchronization information are stored in encrypted form in the internal EEPROM. The HCS515 uses the S_DAT and S_CLK inputs to communicate with the host controller device. The HCS515 operates over a wide voltage range of 4.5V - 5.5V. The decoder features an automatic bit rate detection function that can compensate for a wide range of variations in the transmitter data rate. The decoder includes sophisticated error checking algorithms to ensure that only valid codes are accepted.
