Multilayer suppressors are an effective solution for EMI/RFI attenuation in electronic equipment. Available in seven standard sizes (0402, 0603, 0805, 1206, 1210, 1806, and 1812), they offer impedance of 6 to 2000 Ω at 100 MHz. When installed in series with signal and/or power circuits, they suppress high-frequency noise. No ground termination is required, making these devices ideal for circuits where grounding is difficult. Typical suppression frequency range is 10 MHz to 1000 MHz, with current ratings of 0.1 to 6 A. Multilayer suppressors are specifically designed to reduce noise in low-impedance circuits while maintaining undistorted signal integrity. This is because these components behave resistively at interference frequencies. High-frequency noise is converted to heat rather than being reflected back to the source. This dissipation prevents ringing and parasitic oscillations. These characteristics serve a variety of purposes:
