Introduction
The ADuM1440/ADuM1441/ADuM1442/ADuM1445/ADuM1446/ADuM1447 are micropower, 4-channel digital isolators based on Coupler technology. These isolation devices integrate high-speed CMOS with monolithic air-core transformer technology, offering superior performance characteristics over alternatives such as optocouplers. In standard operating mode, with ENₓ = 0 (internal refresh enabled), current per channel is less than 10μA. With ENₓ = 1 (internal refresh disabled), current per channel drops below 1μA. The devices are available in compact 16-lead QSOP and 20-lead SSOP packages, saving nearly 70% of board space compared to isolators in wide-body SOIC packages. These devices withstand high isolation voltages and meet regulatory requirements such as UL and CSA standards (pending). In addition to space savings, they can operate from supplies as low as 2.25V. Beyond low power consumption, all variants of the ADuM1440/ADuM1441/ADuM1442/ADuM1445/ADuM1446/ADuM1447 feature very low pulse width distortion (less than 8ns). Furthermore, each variant provides an input glitch filter to prevent interference from extraneous noise.
