Introduction
The FSG Series force sensors deliver precise, reliable force sensing performance in a compact, commercial-grade package. The sensors employ proven sensing technology utilizing a specialized piezoresistive micromachined silicon sensing element. The low-power, unamplified, uncompensated Wheatstone bridge circuit design provides an inherently stable millivolt output over force ranges of 5N, 10N, 15N, and 20N.
The force sensor operates on the principle that piezoresistors implanted in silicon increase in resistance when deflected by any applied force. The sensor transmits force from the application directly to the silicon sensing element via a stainless steel plunger. The change in resistance is proportional to the applied force. This change in circuit resistance produces a corresponding change in the millivolt output level.

The sensor package design features a patented modular construction. Innovative elastomer technology combined with engineered molded plastics enables overforce capacity up to three times the rated force. Stainless steel plungers provide excellent mechanical stability for a wide range of applications. Multiple electrical interconnect options accommodate pre-wired connectors, PCB mounting, and surface mounting. The unique sensor design also offers versatile mounting options, including mounting brackets.
