Introduction
The BMP388 is a compact digital pressure sensor featuring high accuracy and low current consumption. It functions as both a pressure sensor and a temperature sensor. The pressure sensing element is based on capacitive sensing principles, ensuring high accuracy under temperature variations. The small form factor makes the BMP388 well-suited for mobile applications and wearable devices.
The BMP388's internal signal processor converts the output of the pressure and temperature sensing elements into 24-bit results. Each pressure sensor is individually calibrated and includes calibration coefficients, which are used in the application to convert measurement results into actual pressure and temperature values.
The BMP388 features a FIFO capable of storing the latest 32 measurement results. By utilizing the FIFO, the host processor can remain in sleep mode for extended periods between readings, reducing overall system power consumption. Sensor measurements and calibration coefficients are accessible via serial I2C or SPI interfaces.
