Introduction
The CC2650 device is a wireless MCU targeting Bluetooth Smart, ZigBee, 6LoWPAN, and ZigBee RF4CE remote control applications.
This device belongs to the CC26xx family of cost-effective, ultra-low-power 2.4GHz RF devices. It features extremely low active RF and MCU current consumption along with low-power mode leakage current, ensuring exceptional battery life — suitable for small coin cell battery-powered applications and energy harvesting applications.
The CC2650 device contains a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M3 processor running at 48MHz — the same frequency as the main processor — and offers a rich peripheral feature set, including a unique ultra-low-power sensor controller. This sensor controller is well-suited for interfacing with external sensors and for autonomously collecting analog and digital data while the rest of the system remains in sleep mode. As a result, the CC2650 device is an ideal choice for a wide range of applications in industrial, consumer electronics, and medical products.
The Bluetooth Low Energy controller and IEEE 802.15.4 MAC are embedded in ROM and run separately on an ARM Cortex-M0 processor. This architecture improves overall system performance and power consumption, and frees up flash memory for applications.
