Introduction
MCP1085S is a next-generation capacitive sensing microprocessor SOC chip, integrating a ten-channel, multi-mode, wide-frequency capacitive analog front-end sensing circuit, microprocessor, memory, and rich I/O interfaces. The capacitance measurement frequency is configurable in the range of 0.1~30MHz, with a 16-bit digital output and a maximum resolution of 1fF. The chip supports multiple operating modes, capable of measuring single-ended capacitance, floating differential capacitance, and mutual capacitance, among others. An integrated 16-bit high-precision digital temperature sensor enables applications requiring temperature compensation and other temperature-combined sensing. To address embedded processing for capacitive sensing across industries, the SOC integrates an Arm Cortex-M0+ core microprocessor for edge computing of various sensing algorithms, converting raw measured oscillation frequency values into capacitance and specific physical quantities such as liquid level, moisture content, displacement, and proximity distance. The chip features built-in 64KB Flash, 1KB Data Flash, and 4KB SRAM, allowing developers to write application software and store sensor calibration and application data. The chip also integrates hardware resources including ADC, advanced timers, general-purpose timers, and 16-bit basic timers, as well as interfaces such as USART and I2C.
