Introduction
PN5321A3HN is a highly integrated transceiver module based on an 80C51 microcontroller core for 13.56 MHz contactless communication. It supports six different operating modes:
- ISO/IEC 14443A/MIFARE reader/writer
- FeliCa reader/writer
- ISO/IEC 14443B reader/writer
- ISO/IEC 14443A/MIFARE card emulation — MIFARE Classic 1K or MIFARE Classic 4K
- FeliCa card emulation
- ISO/IEC 18092, ECMA 340 peer-to-peer communication
PN5321A3HN implements demodulator and decoder functions for signals from ISO/IEC 14443A/MIFARE compatible cards and transponders. It handles complete ISO/IEC 14443A framing and error detection (parity and CRC).
PN5321A3HN supports MIFARE Classic 1K or MIFARE Classic 4K card emulation mode, enabling contactless communication using MIFARE at bidirectional transfer speeds up to 424 kbit/s.
PN5321A3HN can demodulate and decode FeliCa-encoded signals, handle FeliCa framing and error detection, and support contactless communication using FeliCa at bidirectional transfer speeds up to 424 kbit/s.
PN5321A3HN supports layers 2 and 3 of the ISO/IEC 14443B reader/writer communication scheme; however, anti-collision functionality must be implemented in firmware and upper layers.
In card emulation mode, PN5321A3HN can respond to reader commands according to the FeliCa or ISO/IEC 14443A/MIFARE card interface scheme. It can generate a load modulation signal from its transmitter or by driving an external active circuit via the LOADMOD pin. Full secure card functionality is only achievable in combination with a secure IC using the NFC-WI/S2C interface.
Compliant with ECMA 340 and ISO/IEC 18092 NFCIP-1 passive and active communication modes, PN5321A3HN can communicate with another NFCIP-1 compliant device at transfer speeds up to 424 kbit/s. It handles complete NFCIP-1 framing and error detection.
The PN5321A3HN transceiver can be connected to an external antenna in reader/writer or card/PICC mode without any additional active components.
PN5321A3HN supports the following host interfaces:
- SPI
- I2C
- High-Speed UART (HSU)
The built-in LDO regulator allows direct battery connection. A power switch for supplying the secure IC is also included.
