Introduction
The NRS16xxZ/26x4Z/25x9Z series fiber optic transceiver components are compatible with 650nm plastic optical fiber, providing high-performance, low-cost fiber optic communication links for industrial, power generation, medical, transportation, and gaming applications. This series supports industry-standard plastic optical fiber interfaces and is available in three package orientations: horizontal, vertical, and 30-degree angled. Compatible with 1mm diameter plastic optical fiber and 200μm diameter PCS fiber, the devices achieve a minimum transmission distance of 50 meters when used with 1mm diameter plastic optical fiber. The NRS16xxZ is a transmitter consisting of a high-power LED die with a peak wavelength of 650nm and its driver IC. Paired with 1mm core diameter plastic optical fiber at a 5V supply voltage, the typical optical output power is -2dBm. Polarity options are available: NRS16x4Z is positive polarity and NRS16x9Z is negative polarity. The NRS26x4Z and NRS25x9Z are receivers built around a high-gain transimpedance amplifier with an integrated photodiode. The output stage features a rail-to-rail topology with TTL-level output. NRS26x4Z is positive polarity and NRS25x9Z is negative polarity. To improve the stability of the receiver output pulse width, the receiver IC incorporates an automatic pulse width calibration circuit. When used with the NRS16x9Z, link pulse width distortion is within ±5ns.
