Introduction
MAX3088E is a high-speed RS-485/RS-422 transceiver with ±15kV ESD protection, containing one driver and one receiver. The device guarantees a logic-high receiver output when the receiver inputs are open or shorted. This means that when all drivers connected to a terminated bus are disabled (high-impedance), the receiver output will be logic high. The MAX3088E driver has no slew-rate limit, allowing data transmission rates up to 10Mbps. All driver outputs and receiver inputs are protected to ±15kV using the Human Body Model. These transceivers draw low supply current into a terminated bus with no load or when the driver is disabled. All devices feature 1/8-unit-load receiver input impedance, allowing up to 256 transceivers on a single bus. The MAX3088E is designed for half-duplex communication.
