The MAX3085 high-speed transceiver is designed for RS-485/RS-422 communications, integrating one driver and one receiver. The device guarantees that its output remains at a logic-high level when the receiver inputs are open or shorted. This means that if all terminated drivers on the bus are disabled (high-impedance state), the receiver output will be at a logic-high level. The MAX3085 sets a higher limit on driver output slew rate, supporting data rates up to 50kbps. These transceivers typically draw low quiescent current when idle or when the driver is disabled. All devices feature a receiver input impedance of 1/8 unit load, allowing up to 256 transceivers to be connected on the bus. The MAX3085 is suitable for half-duplex communications.
