The MAX3082 high-speed transceiver is designed for RS-485/RS-422 communications, incorporating one driver and one receiver. The device guarantees a logic-high receiver output when the receiver inputs are open or shorted. This means that if all drivers on a properly terminated bus are disabled (high-impedance), the receiver output will be logic high. The MAX3082 features a reduced driver slew rate to minimize EMI and reduce signal reflections caused by improperly terminated cables, enabling error-free data transmission at rates up to 15kbps. These transceivers typically consume low quiescent current when idle or when the driver is disabled. All devices feature 1/8-unit-load receiver input impedance, allowing up to 256 transceivers to be connected on the bus. The MAX3082 is suited for half-duplex communications.
