The LTC2851 is a low-power, 15Mbps RS485/RS422 transceiver operating from a 3.3V supply. Its receiver supports one-eighth unit load, allowing up to 256 nodes per bus, and features failsafe operation that guarantees a high output state under open or shorted input conditions. When the transceiver is disabled or powered down, the driver maintains high output impedance across the full common-mode range. Current limiting on all outputs combined with thermal shutdown protection prevents excessive power dissipation due to bus contention or fault conditions. Enhanced ESD protection allows the device to withstand voltages up to ±15kV (Human Body Model) on the transceiver interface pins without latch-up or damage.
