Introduction
The 1232 low-power micromonitor supervises three critical conditions of a microprocessor: power supply, software execution, and external override. First, a precision temperature-compensated reference and comparator circuit monitors the status of VCC. When an out-of-tolerance condition occurs, an internal power-fail signal is generated, forcing RESET into its active state. When VCC returns within tolerance, the reset signal is held active for a minimum of 250ms to allow the power supply and processor to stabilize. The second function performed by the 1232 is pushbutton reset control. The 1232 debounces the pushbutton input and guarantees a minimum active reset pulse width of 250ms. The third function is the watchdog timer. The 1232 has an internal timer that forces the reset signal active if the strobe input is not driven low before timeout occurs.
