Introduction
The LTC1232 provides power supply monitoring, watchdog timing, and external reset functions for microprocessor systems. An internal precision voltage reference and comparator circuit monitors the power supply rail. When an out-of-tolerance condition is detected, the reset output is forced active. The RST output is guaranteed to remain logic low even when VCC falls as low as 1V. The device incorporates an internal watchdog timer that forces the reset output active if the STROBE input is not pulled low before the preset timeout period expires. The watchdog timeout can be configured to operate with typical timeout periods of 150ms, 600ms, or 1.2 seconds. The LTC1232 implements pushbutton reset control with debouncing of the pushbutton input, guaranteeing a minimum reset pulse width of 250ms.
