Introduction
The MAX1232 microprocessor supervisory circuit provides microprocessor housekeeping and power-supply monitoring functions to enhance microprocessor performance in circuit systems. The device monitors power supplies, supervises software execution, and provides a debounced manual reset input. Under power-up, power-down, and undervoltage brownout conditions (with digitally selectable 5% or 0% supply tolerance), a reset pulse of at least 250ms is generated. A debounced manual reset input is also provided, forcing reset for a minimum of 250ms. A digitally programmable watchdog timer monitors software execution, with programmable timeout periods of 150ms, 600ms, or 1.2s. The MAX1232 requires no external components.
