MAX3084E is a high-speed RS-485/RS-422 transceiver with ±1kV ESD protection, integrating both a driver and a receiver. The device guarantees that its output remains logic-high when the receiver input is open-circuited or short-circuited. This means that if the driver on the terminated bus is disabled (high-impedance state), the receiver output will be logic-high. The MAX3084E offers enhanced driver output slew rate limiting, supporting data rates up to 500kbps. All driver outputs and receiver inputs are protected to ±15kV using the Human Body Model. These transceivers typically draw low quiescent current on a terminated bus with no load or with the driver disabled. All devices feature a receiver input impedance of 1/8 unit load, allowing up to 256 transceivers to be connected on a single bus. The MAX3084E is intended for full-duplex communication.
