MAX3082E is a high-speed RS-485/RS-422 transceiver with ±15kV ESD protection, integrating both a driver and a receiver. The device guarantees that its output remains logic-high when the receiver input is open or shorted. This means that when all drivers on the bus are disabled (high-impedance state), the receiver output will be logic-high. The MAX3082E minimizes EMI and reduces signal reflections caused by improper cable termination by slew-rate limiting the driver output, enabling error-free data transmission up to 115kbps. All driver outputs and receiver inputs are protected to ±15kV using the Human Body Model. These transceivers typically draw low supply current when idle or when the driver is disabled. All devices feature a receiver input impedance of 1/8 unit load, allowing up to 256 transceivers to be connected on the bus. The MAX3082E is intended for half-duplex communication.
