The MAX3084 high-speed transceiver is designed for RS-485/RS-422 communications, incorporating one driver and one receiver. The device guarantees a logic-high receiver output when the receiver inputs are open or shorted. This means that if all drivers on the terminated bus are disabled (high-impedance), the receiver output will be logic high. The MAX3084 sets a higher limit on driver output slew rate, allowing data rates up to 50kbps. These transceivers typically draw low quiescent current when idle or when the driver is disabled. All devices feature 1/8-unit-load receiver input impedance, allowing up to 256 transceivers on the bus. The MAX3084 is suitable for full-duplex communications.
