The MAX3089E is a high-speed RS-485/RS-422 transceiver with ±1kV ESD protection, integrating both a driver and a receiver. The device guarantees that the receiver output remains logic-high when the driver input is open or short-circuited. This means that when the driver is disabled (high-impedance state) on the terminated bus, the receiver output will be logic-high. The MAX3089E achieves a 1Mbps slew rate by driving the select pin with a single three-state driver. All devices are ESD-protected. All driver outputs and receiver inputs are protected to ±15V using the human body model. These transceivers typically draw low quiescent current at 1/8 unit load. All devices feature a receiver input impedance of 1/8 unit load, allowing up to 256 drivers to be connected on the bus. The MAX3089E supports full-duplex communication.
